I created the Rare Mushrooms to raise money and awareness for rare genetic diseases, the Rare Diseases charity and the UCLA Early Intervention center who help children with disabilities. A potentially unlimited series of prints, each mushroom is totally unique. By the end of the project 88 mushrooms had been created. The idea was to speak to the wonder of variance in nature and also to the hallucinogenic properties of many mushrooms which cause you to experience the world in irregular ways, something I felt could be analogous in some some ways to the experience of having a genetic disorder.
